Ignoring the history of all prior US military training

RFI’s article on US Africom’s position for intervention is one big smoke screen obscuring the history of the US’s military past in Mali.  Since 2002, widely known in some circles, US Special Forces have been training the Malian army for the ‘terrorist’ scenario that is playing out today. Training have been carried out throughout northern Mali and in particular in the region of Gao and Kidal.  Military apparatus given to the Malian army from the US was abandoned in the north when the Malian military fled in March, and was incorporated by the rebels. Thus, the US toying with the idea of providing military aid in the form of training and supplies, after a decade of such, is patronizing.
